need reliable, honest, and caring staff to work among these children. To work at an after school program like The Boys and Girls Club, one must jump through many hoops. To get hired, one must pass a background test, drug test, reference check, as well as complete an intensive online training that covers state mandated child care training. That online training takes about 15 hours to complete. Once that training is complete, one must also pass CPR and first aid training. After all those steps are successfully completed, one can be an employee at The Boys and Girls Club. The Boys and Girls Club of Central Iowa has six different locations in the area. These locations serve youth from kindergarten to highschool.
Overall The Boys and Girls Club has had a very positive impact in the communities they serve. The number of youth that attend The Boys and Girls Club of Central Iowa is growing each day. That can be contributed to the way this program is being run, funding, and youth to staff interaction. The staff is such a big key factor because the relationships the youth have with their staff is what keeps them coming back. Other than youth attending to be among their peers, youth keep coming back because of the bond their staff have built with them. In order to ensure that the youth and staff relationship stays positive, it is important that staff is taken care of. Things like pay, work environment, and coworker relationships are what help determine how a staff member performs at work. To get a better insight, we wanted to see how our local Boys and Girls Club
