Introduction
In the article, Working ‘the Code’ it discusses the circumstances of inner-city life that has encouraged the development of femininities that also encourages and limit inner-city girls’ the use of physical aggression violence. The article highlights the lives of young males and females in the city of South, Philadelphia that is manipulated into the conception of the ‘code of the street’. There are many studies that can say that young boys tend to be involved in violence massively compared to young girls. Society has targeted young boys of being the violent ones that is normally ‘wrapped up’ in this kind of situation. Black Feminist scholar, (Collins, 2004) argues that “the code of the street in her recent analysis of the relationship between hegemonic masculinities and femininities, violence and dominance. She also states that the urban spaces is exacerbated by the culture of the code. In order words she is saying that our young boys are increasingly being consumed by this code are mainly in and out of correctional facilities whereas they do not want be classified as ‘weak’ working class men.
In my article summary, comments about the different views on working ‘the code’ are precisely presented.

Article Summary
In the article Working ‘the Code’, written by Nikki Jones (2008), focuses on girls, gender, and inner-city violence that is centred in South Philadelphia. In this article (Anderson, 1999) speaks about the ‘code of the street’ that is integrated with the residents from Philadelphia. He described the code as “a set of informal rules, prescriptions, and proscriptions of behaviour organized around a desperate search for respect that governs public relations, especially violence among so many residents, particularly young men and women”.
