The Impact of Google Maps

Google Maps is a mapping service provided by Google. It has many Positive and Negative impacts on society. It also has many different functions. The ones that I will be focusing on in this essay include the directions aspect of it, the tracking function, the street view function and Google Maps Treks. In this essay, I will be considering the positive and negative impacts on society for all these functions. I will then assess whether google maps has made an overall positive or negative impact on society.
Jens and Lars Rasmassen invented Google Maps in 2005, offering satellite imagery, street maps, street views, real-time traffic and route planning for traveling by walking, driving, bike riding, or public transportation. It also shows life traffic. Although there are many hidden features, for example, Google tracking, Google treks and one of the most liked features is Google Trek. Google Maps Mainly uses JavaScript. When you drag the map, the grid squares are downloaded from the server and inserted into the page. When a user searches for a business, the results are downloaded in the background and then put into the side panel and map; the page is not reloaded. Lars Rasmussen has a degree in computer science and mathematics. He started the company Where 2 Technologies with his brother Jens and then moved to Facebook. Jens Rasmussen also got a degree in computer science and mathematics and started as a senior member at Digital Fountain before starting up Where 2 Technologies with his brother. He is still currently working at Google.
