?Do we, or do we not, believe that everyone is created equal? If we believe this, then homosexuals should be allowed to marry. It doesn't threaten me. I don't understand why it would threaten anyone else. Marriage is a representation of love. Just like love sees no color, love should not see gender. Who am I or who are you to say whether someone should or should not be allowed to marry someone they love?
No matter what personal or religious beliefs a person has about homosexuality, there is one thing that is incredibly important to remember – homosexuals are PEOPLE! Homosexuals, as human beings, only desire (and deserve) to have the rights that every other human on the planet has, and they are more than willing to take on the responsibilities that go along with them. Gay relationships are no different than straight relationships and all of them are just as unique. In chapter 6 we learn the “Us vs. Them Effect.” Most people don’t know how to react to different things especially when it’s not what they are use to and something they know nothing about. So instead of learning about it, they discriminate and reject the unknown. With gay marriage, I think the most people disagree with it because they don’t know how to react to it. It’s not religious belief or that woman and men should be together, it’s simple fear of not knowing how to deal with the situation. Regardless of what anyone thinks love is love whether its with man and woman, men and men etc. I
