We Only Live Once

Each time an incident occurs, I put my mom into a difficult situation, especially because I almost lost my life twice. All of these situations have always made me feel like I was just meant to stay in the hospital for the rest of my life. However, continuing to overcome this hurdle, I now believe I am destined for greatness. Can you picture yourself in my shoes, feeling as if there is no point in living because almost every day your body reaction causes other people to suffer from something that you're not able to control? If I were able to simply avoid all the situations that trigger my seizures, I would be more successful and stress free. I would be able to achieve my ultimate goal of becoming a mechanical engineer which was influenced by my experience at Ace Tech with my engineering classes. Although I have not been able to successfully change my mental approach to the situations, I have had success in many other instances.
Life is full of a lot of challenges, but with assistance from my family, neurologist, teachers, and my reliance on God, I am successful. My whole life has been a circle that keeps rotating. I’ve been through a lot of hurtful and traumatic moments where I felt like there’s no tomorrow. I’m an epilepsy patient who has suffered from seizure disorders ever since I was two months old. Due to ridicule I have received, I have always struggled to be around people whenever my seizures occur. For example, I had a seizure during the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) in seventh grade. My fellow classmates started making negative comments towards me and made me feel like not returning to school again. The multiple medications I have taken make it more difficult for me to focus during the school day; however, I continue to overcome this obstacle.
