The horrors people face while off at war are never forgotten, whether they have scars, bad memories, or constant reminders every day. Many soldiers face criticism once they come home for whatever happened when they were deployed. If held captive or even just on the front line, most carry scars everywhere they go; some are physical and some are mental. The articles “The Private Jessica Lynch” by Nancy Gibbs, “Confessions of a Sniper” by Rania Abouzeid, and the book “American Sniper” by Chris Kyle are all fantastic works of literature. Jessica, Chris and the Sniper all went off to war to fight for what they believe in. They all suffered during their timeserving, but they made it and are trying to continue to live their lives. It doesn’t matter whom you are fighting for: a soldier is a soldier, they all go through the horrors of war, and carry their scars with them.
Chris Kyle was a Navy SEAL sniper who served in Iraq during his four deployments. Chris was originally from North-Central Texas and was from a Christian family. Jessica Lynch was an Army supply clerk who served in Iraq. Jessica is originally from Palestine, West Virginia. The Sniper is a rebel gunman who is from a “Sunni military family in a town on the outskirts of the capital, Damascus,” (Abouzeid, 1). These three people might seem like they have nothing in common, but when you look into it they are more alike than you would think. Jessica and Chris were both American soldiers who served in Iraq. Chris and the Sniper were both snipers fighting for what they think is right. Since they all courageously served for their countries, all three of them can be considered a hero. When you take a quick glance at it, it might not seem like they have things in common when in reality they do.
