There are many obstacles in life, but whether it turns into something significant or not is your choice. There was a time in my life when I wasn’t physically happy with my image. I’d look at myself in the mirror and wasn’t satisfied. I felt like I was too petite, and needed more muscle and strength. That’s when I decided to make a change in my life. I was surrounded by people I knew I could receive help from; I just needed to reach my hand out to them. I went straight to my cousin Cindy, a young enthusiastic, strong, healthy girl who is married to John. A young certified body builder. I explained the way I had been feeling lately to her, and I remember her response just like she’d just told me this yesterday, “This process will not be easy, but when there’s no pain, there’s no gain.” I was a little frightened and intimidated on what the results were going to be. But I knew that if I wanted to see a change, I had to put effort into in.
Day 1 started off with the basic rules of working out. Wanting to see the difference, not only involves physical movement, it also involves healthier choices. She explained how most of the results that you want for your body comes from the nutrients and proteins you receive in your daily meals. But as she was explaining and informing me about the adequate proportions of foods I should be eating, the only thing going through my mind was how every day during lunch at school I go out with friends to fast food restaurants; that was going to be a problem. Not only that, now I had to cut down on all the junk food, or any sort of food with any unnecessary grease. You could say I have a bit of a “sweet tooth.” I knew this was going to be a challenge for me. But I also knew that everything was going to be well-worth it. I decided to tell my mom about the choices I was making, assured and confident. As I though her reaction was going to be overjoyed and delighted, she was concerned and nervous...
