Tim Kane writes in an article about how “The real problem with undocumented immigrant workers is that flouting the law has become the norm, which makes the job of terrorist and drug traffickers infinitely easier” (Kane). In other words, by letting this crime go without any consequences, we let smaller scale crimes go under the radar which will lead to larger crimes in the future, because criminals will try to find more methods to fly under the system and the authorities will essentially become less alert. The system seems quite broken, as Kane continues: “So we have been making it really easy for law breakers to sneak in the back door of our country and we have been making it really hard for law abiding people to get in the front door”. The process for immigrants to legally get into our country is very lengthy and also very strict. Only a few are allowed into our country out of those who have waited for years. On the other hand, those who cross the border illegally, can lay under the radar and in some cases, even bring drugs and crime along with them. Those who go through the legal process are screened, therefore, criminals and drug traffickers are less likely to make it across the border.
