The book The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini, explains how a way to gain acceptance from different cultures and obtain a friendship to last a lifetime may be too high of an expectation. The Kite Runner follows the story of Amir Agha, the narrator/protagonist and his friend/slave, Hassan in an adventure of accord and treason, also how love and friendship can break through the barricade of civil collections. We come from a variety of cultures and people, which is seen as an assortment of contrasting opinions. We choose a few that help protest our own perspective on certain topics or different beliefs, which affects how we look at the world. In the novel, friendship is explained that not everything is all fun and games, but as long as we are doing this together we can get through anything the world puts us through. The Kite Runner showcases an example of what it would be like to grow up during a critical time that our friend needed us the most but instead decided to be a coward, knowing we should have helped them regardless of the situation. We then reflect upon our actions and when the time comes again we are willing to make the sacrifices that we weren’t able to the first time something bad has happened whether it is putting life in danger or not. Just to protect the ones we love we will do anything for them.
Friendship is a way of having people around us that we hold close for the different outlooks that they provide, apart from those we sometimes get forcibly torn away from our family’s way of thinking.
