Can Your Pockets Ever Get A Break?

In high school, I noticed how education was free and we didn’t have to pay to go to any particular school, but now that I have reached a higher level, I sometimes think to myself why was it free in grade school, but so costly now. I often hear around campus, the complaints and nagging about how college is so expensive and tuition is so much, and we as students feel that college shouldn’t cost us any money. In the essay “The Argument for Tuition-Free College”, Keith Ellison talks about how the cost of tuition and student loan debt are sky high and making it unbelievable possible for a lot of American students to go to college and how its times for college to be free and able to for all to attend. Ellison states toward the middle of her article, “Today, student loan debt increases inequality and makes it harder for low-income graduates, particularly those of color, to buy a house, open a business, and start a family” (Ellison). Everyone coming together in some form or fashion and paying tribute to this cause can be a start to make college tuition more affordable. I agree with Ellison that the cost of tuition is very high and having to use so much student loan is making it harder for low-income graduates especially those of color to be something in life because they have bad credit score from all the loan debt they are in, and they are not financially able because they have so much money to pay back to the government.
A lot of the problems that are going on with the world today is because we can’t come as one and try to fix those problems. A lot of the people say there isn’t much they can do to better things in our world, but they never look at it as them helping our young color people to a better life.
