The Correlation of Sport and Educational Attainment

“The saying that a healthy body equals a healthy mind is absolutely true,” says Quentin Sloper (Gill, 2014). In other words, students who are more involved in sport perform better in academics than those who are not. For instance, sports make one healthier, more independent, well disciplined, gives motivation, a good personality increasing self-confidence, development of positive attitude and being able to think professionally (John and Campbell, 2001) giving a positive effect on one’s scholarly execution. In this paper, I will examine whether support in sport positively affects one’s scholarly execution. The first section discusses how participation in sport improves a healthy individual, in this manner adding to one’s scholarly accomplishment. Secondly, how various studies have indicated positive connections between scholastic accomplishment and sports investment will be explored. Lastly, how inclusion in sport specifically adds to an individual’s scholarly performance will be explained giving examples of sports played that enhance academic achievement. Summing up a conclusion will be presented based on my opinion.
The health of a student is connected to their scholastic performance. A recurrent connection between poor sustenance and instructive results clearly proves that poor diet in early youth leads to lower academic performance throughout school proving that one’s academic performance influences future health as well. Moreover, "A person who eats inadequate nutritional foods have a shorter attention span thus a lower academic performance than people who eat a balanced meal”, declares Carroll (2014:64). Nevertheless, students who do sports have less fat in their bodies, stronger muscles, and better cardiovascular and active brains improving their educational attainment.
