First, the people outside of her family who are encouraging Sarah are her counselor and her current employer friend who think that she has a great chance of getting a scholarship because of her high school records, test scores and financial needs to attend a four-year university. Ms. Aguilar is her counselor who thinks she has a great chance of getting a scholarship because she is a talented individual who cares about getting good grades and had been getting great grades in high school with a 3.8 g.p.a. With the family on a tight budget and not many resources, there is a financial need for her to attend a university. Her parents encourage her not to worry and to live her own life, to try her best and what is best for her. Marie is her fourteen-year-old sister who is encouraging her to go to Mountainfield. She says to think of all the new people she would meet and all the different courses she could take. Her friend Teresa Vasquez says to take the money from the scholarship and go to college and never look back because going away to Mountainfield sounds exciting. ...
