The Woman Who is My Role Model

“Some people come to make a significant impact in your life- you can barely remember what life was without them.”
I see this quote boldly written on my school wall and all the time it reminds me my one in a million elder sister- the first born of the family of ten children where I occupy the number four position and second to her among the female children.
An intelligent and brave young lady who has got this natural confidence and zeal that propel her to do everything she does to the best of her ability with a view to achieving the best in all that she engages in. This young lady I have not in any way dreamt to imitate but instead I see her as a reason to do better. Reminiscing about the exonerating challenges and how she sought to conquer them naturally makes me say to myself- “I can do this”
As the first child of the family, she carries a huge responsibility on her shoulders. Assisting to ensure that her siblings achieve the best in their education, contributing in some vital decisions for the family, uplifting the name of the family with high sense of exemplary characters academically, morally, religiously and above all, always striving her utmost to see that she does her best to help others to do better that they could believe was possible for them.
The most fascinating aspect of her that has greatly endeared me towards her and motivated me, is the way she has been able to manage the above responsibilities and at the same time putting up her best to achieve excellence in her studies, especially her performances in Science and Mathematics. It is still fresh in my memory, my feelings going through her school's compound and the hostel apartment when I went on a visitation with my family to her school at The Nigerian Turkish International College Kano, a girls-only high school. Listening to each of the teachers reading out her excellent performances in all subjects, especially sciences where she scored between 90 and 100% m...
