A metaphor that Jesus used is “I am the light of the world” in other words this is giving the understanding that Jesus is the way to our salvation, which is what light is referring to, and that darkness refers to sinfulness. The metaphor that I have chosen to write about is that, the Kingdom of God is like a fortune 500 company. There are lots of people who apply for a job here. The founder of this company is God. The Chief Executive Officer is none other than God’s Son, Jesus Christ. Management is all the angels. There are some qualifications that are needed by you to be employed with this company. To be hired by this company you must first confess all the wrong that you have done, then you need to show that you are a believer that Jesus is the True Messiah, He is the Son of the living God, He died and rose again for the sins of the world, which is how we have the opportunity for eternal life. Those are the ones who will be employed for life. This is giving all who are employed with the company all that they need to live a life that is in the will of God.
I believe that the 1st Century audience in Jesus’ day would have understood this concept very well. However, I also believe that there would be a lot who would be fired for not following all the rules. That would be because of them going to the side of the competitor, whose name is Satan.
When we are employed by Gold there is a certain way that we are to look, we need to make sure that the way we are working is representing our Christian faith. I guess I came up with this metaphor after reading Revelation 21:2, I can see the holy city of Jerusalem coming from heaven as a city of commerce, and business and even government. Everyone and everything will be in full worship of God. We work here while we are traveling here on this earth, and when we get to heaven we will work also. The work that we will be able to bring God the honor and glory that is due to Him.
