Abstract
Society is considerably affected by the viewpoints of media on the numerous aspects of daily life and social norms including body image, sexualization, disorders, and intervention. In the United States, the perception of body image is an increasing issue and has been for several years among young women and adolescent girls. These individuals feel the need to remain or attain a thin physique to live up to the societal expectation of thin is beautiful. These ideologies have been displayed throughout social media and general media alike, but some positive sides to media exist such as the ability to contradict, educate and improve body image ideologies among this population and others.

Introduction
The aim of this study is to analyze survey research that demonstrated a correlational relationship between female thin-ideal media exposure, eating disorders, sexualization, and interventions with the sample population being adolescent and young adult women. The measures used include concern in body enhancement media content, introduction to thin-ideal media programming and periodicals media, introduction to overweight-character programming, introduction to athletic periodicals and symptomatology associated with eating disorders.
Society is affected and engulfed by the constant displays of what is considered the ideal body image throughout multiple mass media sources in many ways that touch everyday life including the development of societal norms[ CITATION Was09 l 1033 ].
