As you go through and read the short story “A Sound Of Thunder”, you can see the theme is that all of your actions can have both positive and negative consequences. Eckels, the main character, is the one who shows in the story that tells the readers that all actions have consequences. The main character tells the reader to think before you take action, to trust your own instincts, and how his movements are related to the butterfly effect. As the story progresses, Eckels is seen as a poor listener and follower. This shows the reader to think clearly and to react differently to situations in everyday life, and to listen, making the theme important.
First, Eckels was not thinking before he acted, is a key item when identifying the theme important because not thinking before acting can be the cause of failure in life, telling the readers to think before acting track so you can do the right thing. Eckels who reads the sign out front in the first couple paragraphs, “TIME SAFARI, INC SAFARIS TO ANY YEAR IN THE PAST. YOU NAME THE ANIMAL. WE TAKE YOU THERE. YOU SHOOT IT”, made Eckels interested in hunting for dinosaurs. When he made it to the time machine with the safari man, the light made Eckels excited and made his nervous thoughts about would it be a good idea to enter disappear.. Eckels asked the safari man about if he is gonna make it back alive, showing his lack of confidence. By this first scene, Eckels is seen as brave but also not a very good thinker, giving the audience an idea of how to be a better person then =like Eckels. In the first scene this is a great example of not thinking clearly before acting.
Secondly, while he was trying to find the dinosaur, Eckels started to become less confident as they came closer to the dinosaur, wishing he could take back coming in the first place.
