ng it an area that is prone to issues involving illegal immigrants crossing to and from the countries. The tension that is held between the Chicanos and the whites provides a great example as to what issues resulted from the Mexican-American war. The argument over who truly won the war seems to always loom through the air in Frontera. We can see these tensions truly fuming throughout the film because of where Frontera is set right near the border of Mexico. The unrest from the frontier can be seen amongst the people of Mexico and America, and this proves true to the idea and image of the West. Another example from the film providing great imagery of the West would be Otis’ bar. This speakeasy type bar mirrors an old western saloon of sorts, run by a town local and favorite, who serves liquor behind the eyes of the law. In this case, the law itself is corrupt, Sherriff Charlie Wade being that law, but the idea of the club still stands. More important however than the setting, the roles of the characters and the struggles of their lives display arguably the best image of the West throughout this film.
