A breed of marsupial called thylacine was an animal that lived in Tasmania, Australia. The animal can commonly be preferred as “tasmanian tiger” or “tasmanian wolf”. Humans were the main cause of extinction of the Thylacines. The thylacine went into extinction in the 1930s and is in the process of being revived. To go further into the information on this species, one must learn about the thylacine, know the history of the thylacine and it’s relations with humans, and learn about the cloning process for the creature.

About the Species
The thylacine is a dog- like marsupials with a long muzzle. It’s teeth are conical and curved almost like thick hooks. Research shows that the thylacine had around forty-six teeth. In females, the muzzles come to more of a point. In males, the muzzle is more defined, and even more dog-like. The Thylacine was a large animal that “weighed about fifty pounds, had an elongated head and pointed snout, shearing teeth, and could open its jaw wider than any other mammal”(Gmelch, Sharon Bohn and Morgan Z. Gmelch) The animals have white markings under their eyes to show the direction of what they aim to hunt in order to guide members of the group. This species has thick, coarse hair that varies in colors from gray, golden, reddish, and brown with stripes that vary in number. There are no known sex-linked traits in the thylacines’ coat, “its most distinctive physical feature, however, were the 12 to 20 dark stripes that crossed its back from behind its shoulders”(Gmelch, Sharon Bohn and Morgan Z. Gmelch) The stripe pattern varies in each thylacine. The thylacines, like most animals, have a seasonal change of fur as far as length and color. Thylacines are constantly mistaken for other animals. The Thylacine has a pouch that is used to carry their offspring, similar to that of its’ kangaroo cousin.
