In society, we do not often get the opportunity to work in groups or teams since technology has made life very easy for us all. Working in a group has many advantages for an individual and in allows us all to contribute our skills as individuals. It also allows us to see our weaknesses and how others can help in everyday life. Being a part of a school project one will expect others to be very responsive and contribute to the work that needs to be done.
From the moment the group was formed, communication between members was not positive, maybe I was way too early in beginning the project. With getting everyone on board to discuss the aim and task of the project, we established which task everyone would do and decided to research on a famous person and my task was to build a resume of such famous individual. This was chosen because we decided that we could have provided sufficient information and share the knowledge with other classmates.
A group definition is “two or more people who have shared need and goals.” Communication which is taking place between group members is called group dynamic. This is what my group lacked. There is only one other member who wishes to communicate effectively and provide any feedback when needed. We are all here to achieve a goal and when there are only two group members discussing, this is not looking out to be a very helpful situation. For group work to be effective, we must maintain a level of unity, we also need to develop a structure to improve its effectiveness, and you must be able to accomplish the goal at hand.
I do believe teamwork makes the dream work idiom; however, I am not one to let the laziness of others stop me from producing my efforts. I initiated an easier way to communicate using technology; WhatsApp messenger, where I expected us all to have a better understanding and hoping the members would corporate more.
