any regular meatball, cheese stuffed meatballs. Sitting at the dinner table we discussed our first day at school. My sister said, “I LOVE SCHOOL! I LOVE RECESS!” I responded, “I like being in middle school and being able to rotate classes. We don’t have recess, but we have a longer lunch. “My mom was excited for us and showed joy that we both liked our schools and fit in. Days became weeks. Weeks became months. Those months became our first year in Bonham, TX. We loved our new town. I was involved with sports and band. I played the flute. As for my younger sister she was the spelling bee champion. She always received rewards for her great attendance along with her perfect grades. It’s now our second year in this great little town I fell in love with. School is over. Summer is now here. Going to Braum’s was the “it” spot. Mom worked most days, so we rode our bikes and hoped she didn’t get home before us. Weekends at the poolside with our mom, her friends, and kids were the best. Weekends where we would test out a new restaurant. Our 4 am Walmart runs when we pulled all-nighters watching movies. Life felt great. Like every year summer slips away and back to school it is. Only this year is different it’s the last year of being in middle school. This year I get to be a big girl doing whatever it is big girls do. Taking care of myself, getting my sister ready for school, making sure chores were done, and it was a list that went on. There is so much to do this year, I’m ready to take over.
