First, University’s freshmen seems to be the main victims of the drinking accident. “According to the survey done by Boosting Alcohol Consciousness Concerning the Health of University Students University 29percent of 3,108 freshmen drank more alcohol during Membership Training than any other period in 2008 which can cause serious consequences due to their lack of drinking experience and their alcohol capacity.”(Son) Secondly, drinking can affect campus environment. In many universities in Korea and the U.S., it is normal to see people drinking on campus in the early afternoon. If students have mature civic awareness, they will not cause any problems to campus society. However, there are students who are intoxicated and lose their discernment. They often make other students uncomfortable, provoking a quarrel or leaving unhygienic trash on the campus. The main concern is that these problems can reduce campus quality by leaving a poor impression of campus to students as well as outsiders.
