Compare and Contrast Essay: Shopping Online and Shopping In-Store

Everybody loves shopping because it is how we can search for and purchase items we need or things we would like to have. Whether it is the pair of shoes that one may have saved up for or the house that a couple may have seen and wanted to buy, we all go shopping for items. The way in which we shop has evolved a great deal over the generations. Marketers have implemented more strategies to improve the shopping experience of the consumers, and one of these strategies is online shopping. For some time now, there has always been the comparison between online shopping and in-store shopping to see which one gives a better shopping experience.
In-store shopping and online shopping have some differences when it comes to how accurately the details of the products are displayed. In a store, an individual may walk in to try and purchase a certain item, but after taking that item to the counter for checkout, he or she finds out that it may have costed more than what its price tag displayed. Online, an individual may have found an item and decided to purchase it from their saved list. Sometimes, the availability of items are not promptly updated on the website, so the customer would end up purchasing the item, and later finding out that the item was unavailable, so it was either substituted or refunded. Both instances cause a lot of problems for customers, but online shopping has much fewer errors. I have worked in several stores that had online shopping, and in every one of them, the online shopping employees use accurate handheld devices to locate, pick out and arrange items for customers. These picked out items are then reviewed by the department manager, so there is a very little chance that items are picked out wrongly. In the stores where I worked on the sales floor, customers would always complain about items being under the wrong label so they would ask that the price is adjusted to match what they saw or they would just leave out the item...
